Open Day Top Tips

29 January 2024
Explore our top tips for one of our College Open Days.

Open Days at EKC Canterbury College are your chance to learn all about the options that are available for you, what student life is really like and the amazing facilities available on your doorstep.

To help you get the most out of visiting an EKC Canterbury College Open Day, we’ve put together this guide with some top tips so that you know what to expect ahead of the day.

Do your research

Before embarking on your own personal Open Day journey, check out our courses and subject areas online. This will let you see what is on offer at the College as well as a quick overview of what facilities, trips and career prospects each department has. This will help you plan your visit at Open Day effectively to ensure you don’t miss out on anything you want to know.

Ask questions

Open Day is the perfect opportunity to ask all the questions you have about the courses, campus life, and extracurricular activities. Lecturers, current students, and our support staff are there to help, so take advantage of their knowledge.

If after your research you have more questions, use the Open Day to ensure that you get the answers you need.

Take part and get involved

Most of our departments will feature hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and interactive sessions on the night. Whether it’s showcasing our robots in Engineering, meeting the animals in Animal Care or testing your talents in Music, take part in these activities to get a taste of the practical side of your potential studies. This will give you a greater idea of what is to come during your time at College.

Explore our campus fully

If you don’t have a clear idea of what you would like to study, then use this opportunity to walk around the campus and explore all of our facilities. With our LRC (Learning Resource Centre), Streetside Cafe, Hair and Beauty Salons, Lanfranc Theatre, Sports Centre and EKC Canterbury Spring Lane campus being just some of the places you can explore, get stuck in. This is a great way to imagine what your student life will look like.

Our students will be playing a big part at Open Day, from our student ambassadors who can guide you around campus to students showcasing facilities in their departments. Talk to them and get an inside viewpoint of what life is like on campus, the course experience and what they love in College.
