The atmosphere at EKC Canterbury Sixth Form was filled with excitement and pride as the first A Level students received their results, marking a significant milestone since the Sixth Form College opened in September 2022.
The Sixth Form lecturers welcomed learners into the College to receive their results, offer support on their progression, and celebrate their hard work and achievements.
Speaking on the day, Emma Wilkinson, Senior Deputy Principal of EKC Canterbury College said: “We are incredibly proud of our first cohort of A Level students at EKC Canterbury Sixth Form. Their hard work and dedication have truly paid off, as seen in the impressive range of university places they have secured. It’s wonderful to see our students heading off to diverse universities all across the country, pursuing a variety of courses that reflect their individual passions and ambitions. We couldn’t be more impressed with their achievements and are excited to see what the future holds for each of them.”
For many learners, they are already looking forward to their future and are now taking their next step into a world they’ve planned for throughout their academic journey.
Among those celebrating today is Solu Fayemi, who has accepted a place at the University of Kent to study Electrical Engineering, who said: “I am looking forward to working towards becoming a Data Scientist, and I really want to end up working with robots. I have matured a lot over the past two years I have been at Sixth Form, and I can’t wait to start my future.”
Ruby Sharkie, who achieved A*AB in English Literature, Textiles and Art, is set to continue her academic journey at Royal Holloway, University of London where she’ll study English Literature with Creative Writing. She said: “My dream to be a journalist was ignited by a journalism module in my English Literature course, where my lecturer, a former journalist, told me all about it. I find writing so interesting and I enjoy uncovering stories.”
For some, the relief that comes with receiving A Level results makes all of the hard work worth it. Graham Grobler, joined by his proud Father and Brother, excitedly shared his offer. He will be studying Archaeology at the University of Winchester.
He said: “I’ve always dreamed of becoming an archaeologist and I’m thrilled to be starting my journey this September. Shows like Time Team really fuelled my passion for archaeology. It’s exciting to think that A Levels are behind me and I’m about to take my first step into that world.
Sixth Form has been an incredible experience. It has boosted my confidence and helped me to be more sociable. I have really thrived in a less formal learning environment.”
Ella Wyndham, has received an offer to study Finance and Investment at the University of Kent. She said: “Once I have completed University I want a job in some form of banking.
“Thanks to EKC Canterbury Sixth Form I am so much more confident and ready to take the next step. I worked as a student ambassador at College, which made me confident when meeting new people, which is going to be so important in the future.”
We would like to congratulate all our students on their fantastic achievements and wish them every success for the future.
