Skills for Work Entry 2

No formal entry requirement.

Students will create a portfolio of evidence to support their skill building throughout the course. Assessment is through observation and written work.

After this course, students can go into our Step into Work course or a Supported Internship.

This course is free of charge for all students who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to the age of 24 years and for other young people with a high level of need to the age of 19 years.

Taking part in meaningful trips, events and social action projects in our local community are key to helping our students learn about the world whilst developing their skillset.

We run trips and events throughout the year, which students on our Inclusive Learning courses can be a part of.

This includes visits to local attractions such as Wildwood Kent, in addition to Canterbury city centre, local towns and the coast.

Alongside their work experience placement, students can gain employability skills by taking part in our Community Weeks. These are opportunities where we work with local charities and organisations to help and support local people.

. There may be a small charge for non-curricular activities.

Duration: One year.

Year 1: Monday–Friday, 9am–3.30pm (including one to two days within the workplace). Finish times may differ according to the college and transport.

To support the change from school to college, staff will visit students in their current school and students can attend taster days at the College.
