Level 1 Employability Skills

This course is your first step into college education, helping you get a job or start a traineeship. As part of this course, you’ll get extra help with your English and maths, making you more ready for work and allowing you to move on to a Level 2 course if you choose to.

To join this programme, you will need to show that you can reach Level 1 in English and maths by the end of the course. This will be checked through an assessment during your interview.

Students will create a portfolio of evidence to support their progress throughout the course. Maths and English are exam-based assessments.

This course can lead to students progressing into the vocational College curriculum in several departments, through a two-year Level 2 course.

There are no fees for this course if you are under 18.

Taking part in meaningful trips, events and social action projects in our local community are key to helping our students learn about the world whilst developing their skillset.

We run trips and events throughout the year, which students on our Foundation Learning courses can be a part of.

Alongside their work experience placement, students can gain employability skills by taking part in our Community Weeks. These are opportunities where we work with local charities and organisations to help and support local people.

There are no formal qualifications required, but there will be an interview and assessment process to ensure suitability.
