Cody studied our Level 3 CIPD Certificate in People Practice course.
With CIPD membership now essential for many HR roles, this accredited qualification has supported Cody’s development as a Learning and Development Advisor at The Superior Healthcare Group.
For Cody, studying this qualification didn’t just lead to a fantastic promotion at work, but it has also enhanced her knowledge, strengthened her professional network, and encouraged her to study our Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management.
We caught up with her to find out more.
Why did you study the CIPD course at EKC Canterbury College?
“I chose to study the CIPD course at EKC Canterbury College because I value learning in a classroom environment where I can actively engage with the lecturers and other learners.
“Studying in person allowed me to take part in discussions, share experiences, and learn from others working in different organisations and roles.
“This interaction helped deepen my understanding of HR concepts through real examples and practical insights into other sectors.”
What is it like to study alongside other HR professionals?
“Learning alongside other HR professionals was a really valuable experience for me personally. It created a supportive learning environment where everyone brings different perspectives, industries, and levels of experience.
“Sharing challenges helped put theory into context, and group discussions often highlighted practical ways to apply learning in the workplace.
“It also strengthened professional networks and relationships that have continued.”
How did the course help with your career?
“The course strengthened my knowledge across all areas of HR while expanding my understanding of learning and development.
“It gave me greater confidence to apply HR and Learning and Development principles in practice and take a more well-rounded approach to my role.
“Since completing the course, I have been promoted to Learning and Development Advisor, and I will be progressing on to study the CIPD Level 5 qualification in Learning and Development to continue my professional development.”
What skills have you been able to bring into the workplace?
“Through the CIPD Level 3 course, I developed key learning and development skills that I now apply in the workplace.
“These include identifying learning needs, supporting the design and delivery of training, and understanding how learning links to organisational objectives.
“The course also strengthened my ability to communicate with stakeholders, understand the employee lifecycle, and apply Learning and Development and HR theory in practice, enabling me to contribute more confidently and effectively in a Learning and Development focused role.”
What would you say to someone thinking about studying a CIPD qualification to boost their career?
“Do it, don’t worry, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
“The course will open horizons you didn’t know existed and help you better understand wider business initiatives and how your role impacts them.”
What’s the best thing you learned in College?
“The best thing I learnt in College was how to connect theory with real life practice.
“Studying alongside other HR professionals helped me understand different perspectives, share experiences, and see how HR and Learning and Development concepts are applied across a range of organisations.”
Why are CIPD courses so beneficial?
“CIPD courses are beneficial because they make learning practical and relevant to the workplace.
