Whether you’re curious about ceramics or just want to learn a new hands-on creative skill, this course offers a friendly introduction to the art of hand-built ceramics.

Learn traditional techniques to shape, form, and decorate your own unique pieces without the use of a pottery wheel – making this the perfect hobby you can continue to perfect at home (whilst using air-drying clay).

Course information

This course focuses on hand-building techniques, giving you the freedom to create ceramics without the need of a pottery wheel. Guided by experienced tutors, you’ll experiment with different methods to create your own pieces from start to finish.

During this course you’ll learn:

  • How to prepare and shape clay
  • Use pinch, coil, and slab techniques
  • Basic principles of design and structure
  • Using textures, glazes, and colour
  • How to finish and fire your work in a professional kiln
