Our lecturers have professional experience working in a variety of education and nursery settings, allowing you to develop the skills and knowledge that employers are looking within the industry.
All our courses are highly practical, with work placements playing a huge part. Students must complete a minimum of 250 hours of industry placement for a Level 2 qualification.
Our wide range of tools and equipment on campus means you will be trained in practical skills such as sterilisation, nappy changing, changing of foods, as well as health and safety around babies and children.
The College has an on-site nursery, EKC Canterbury Nursery, where you can have regular opportunities to put your skills into practice.
We also have close links with many local childcare and education providers.
You will take part in social action projects throughout the year. Students lead of a variety of fundraising and volunteering projects as a way to give back to the local community.
Recently Early Years, students helped host an intergenerational event on campus.
You can take part in national and international competitions to showcase your newfound skills. We regularly enter students into World Skills Competitions and consistently offer high standards in the KFE4Skills Competitions.
Take your learning to the next level with our T Level in Education and Childcare, and learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of occupations.

Early Years students took part in a heart-warming activity, painting colourful stones with positive, uplifting messages. The students decorated each stone with bright patterns and kind words before placing them around Canterbury City Centre for others to find.
