Future photographers, hairstylists, and beauticians from College elevated their skills during a Syndicate Wedding Photoshoot.

Future photographers, hairstylists, and beauticians from EKC Canterbury College recently elevated their skills during a collaborative Syndicate Wedding Photoshoot at the picturesque Winters Barns wedding venue.

This exciting project brought together students and local suppliers from various sectors, including wedding dress designers, jewellery makers, florists, and more. It allowed students to capture stunning portfolio shots and create beautiful bridal looks in the on-site salon.

For Level 3 Photography student, Evie, the day was filled with valuable learning moments. “I’ve enjoyed looking at different shots around the venue, just exploring the venue with other people and getting some more complex shots with bouquet lighting,” she shared.

Evie particularly enjoyed photographing the wedding dresses, describing them as her favourite part of the day. “The wedding dresses are so beautiful, and we have so many this year. I can get all the details of the dress and zoom in with the macro lens to capture all the crystals. The fashion aspect of this shoot; working with dresses, modelling, and styling is something that will really help me in the future.”

Fellow Photography student, Bea, was inspired by the different types of shots she was able to capture, saying: “I’ve really enjoyed being able to work with all the jewellery and different things like the bouquet and the dresses. The variety has been absolutely incredible, and this has been a really amazing experience.”

Bea also found the session invaluable for refining her technical skills. “It’s allowed us to fully gain experience and work with multiple people to understand what real-world scenarios will be like when we’re doing this for ourselves.”

Winters Barns provided the ideal setting for the shoot. The venue’s support in hosting the event allowed students to immerse themselves in a professional environment, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the wedding industry.

This project saw students collaborate with a range of talented local suppliers, showcasing the value of building industry relationships. These experiences provided students with valuable insights into how different creative sectors come together to bring events to life, helping them develop the skills and networks they need for future success.
