Students take over High Street store with Christmas Pop-Up Art Market

13 December 2024
Students from across our Visual Arts courses are offering a variety of art pieces for sale at Streets Ahead Collective.

Visual Arts students have taken over the new Streets Ahead Collective store with a pop-up Christmas Art Market, offering their artwork for sale whilst gaining invaluable real-world experience.

The store features a range of pieces including ceramics, badges and prints from students and independent local artists. This initiative is designed to help young artists develop both their creative and professional skills, whilst also giving them a professional space to showcase their work.

“I think this is a great thing to add to my CV and University application,” said Julia Hrabcakova, Level 3 Graphic Design student.

“Working this event has also been beneficial – talking to people and improving communication in a professional setting.”

Photography Lecturer, Danny Whitcher, emphasised the value of the experience: “It’s fantastic to see a full range of courses represented tonight. We’re really proud to showcase all of our students’ work, not just in a professional, industry setting but also in an environment that encourages them to promote themselves and sell their work.

“This is a great opportunity for students to engage in the local community of arts, which is ever-growing.”

All money’s raised by student sales will be going towards funding the end-of-year student show, another fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their work.

The Christmas Pop-Up Market is open each weekend between 6- 24 December at 2 Burgate, Canterbury.

Friday and Saturday Opening times: 10am – 5pm

Sunday Opening times: 10:30am – 4:30pm
