We opened our doors to staff, friends and family to welcome them to our Christmas Community Celebration.

EKC Canterbury College was excited to host the Christmas Community Celebration last Thursday. The College transformed into a winter wonderland, fairy lights glistened, and the DJ played all the best Christmas tunes!

The Level 3 Performing Arts students wowed the visitors with their show ‘A Countdown to Christmas’. A collaboration between the Level 3 Dance and Performing Arts students. They performed an impressive 25 acts each relating to Christmas, from a Father Christmas based pantomime scene to a commercial piece to Jingle Bells the versatility and talent of our performers was incredible.

Is it Christmas without a little glitter? Hair and Media Makeup students provided visitors with festive glitter and stick on tattoos. Whilst Travel and Tourism and Accounting students helped to spread the Christmas joy by assisting in the arts and crafts zone in the refectory. Offering the younger visitors a chance to make a festive craft such as a slow globe or a Christmas wreath. There were smiles all round, particularly from the adults when they realised it was all free!

The festive cheer did not stop there, there was a plethora of stalls lining up on The Street to sell Christmas gifts and other goodies. In attendance were many local independent businesses with unique gifts, the beauty of this was the sellers hand crafted many of the items and the passion for their stalls and business was clear to see.

We were especially impressed with two Level 3 Creative Media EKC Sheppey College students Craig Larkin and James Barrett; they were representing Craig’s business Penguin Patrol’s Printed Perfections. A business Craig had created since purchasing a 3D printer. This was their first professional event, and the 3D models went down a hit, especially the cute gingerbread man decoration!

Emily Johnson, the Principal of EKC Canterbury College reflected on the evening telling us: “Hosting our first Community Christmas Celebration was a proud moment for everyone involved. It was wonderful to see our students transform their talents and knowledge into engaging activities for children, bringing our campus and community closer together.

“We hope to make this an annual event and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the evening.”

Thank you to all those who joined us for the festive fun and congratulations to the organisers for creating a magical evening full of fun and laughter. Same again next year?
