There was an air of excitement in ‘The Street’ today at EKC Canterbury College as students engaged with representatives from various Universities and Higher Education provisions.
A range of students from across all departments were welcomed and given the opportunity to explore their options for future studies.
Aspiring Child Psychologist, Rose Boreham, said: “We are currently looking at UCAS applications, so I have been researching different universities. This fair has come at a great time for us. There is a great range of universities here and it has been helpful to have open conversations with representatives about our options.”

Uni Connect Project Officer, Lisa Hadler, who helped to organise the event was pleased with the engagement from students and informative conversations sparked by the higher education representatives. Lisa said: “It’s been a really positive day with some fantastic talks from Falmouth University and Canterbury Christ Church University.”
Students asked the University Experts questions about the range of courses offered at the University, as well as the facilities at the campus and general student life.

Fellow Early Years Student, Ella Gibson, remarked: “I am not sure if I would like to study Psychology or Mental Health Nursing after College, so being able to discuss my options with such a range of Universities has been useful.”
Both students left the fair with a bundle of prospectuses and high hopes for the future.

Abbie Roe, who is currently studying at the University of Kent, said: “It’s been a nice event! We have spoken to a massive range of students from Adult Learners interested in Nutrition to first year College students who wish to have a career in Social Work.”
Hazel Roberts who was accompanied Abbie added: “It is important for students to know about University of Kent as it’s so close by. I think Higher Education fairs are valuable for students to understand their options both close to home and further away too.”
A highlight of the event was the informative talks delivered in the Main Hall. Canterbury Christ Church spoke to Students about choosing a course and writing a personal statement, which is a crucial topic for those starting their UCAS applications. The next talk was delivered by Brad Tudor-Gayler from Falmouth University, Level 3 Media students listened intently whilst Brad explained the creative courses available and showcased the work from current Falmouth University students.

The fair was a roaring success allowing students to gather vital information about the higher education establishments available to them. This allows our learners to make informed decisions about which route to take for them to reach their goals.
