T Level Accounting

Course overview

Designed for students aged 16–19, a T Level combines 80% classroom-based learning with 20% work placement experience, with an exciting local employer.

On this T Level, you’ll gain the skills, knowledge and practical experiences needed to build a successful career in Accounting and Finance.

You’ll develop a deeper understanding of Accounting with unique practical activities, projects and employer informed learning, covering advanced topics such as bookkeeping, management accounting and the preparation of financial statements.

There are plenty of employer-set projects, trips, networking opportunities and industry experiences, all of which will enable a growth in confidence and clarity about your future.

By the time you complete the course, you will understand Accounting in theory and experienced it first-hand, leaving you well prepared for university.

Course information

By studying a T Level, you will combine practical learning and academic study, thanks to a 45-day work experience placement with a local employer.

During your College studies, you’ll develop a strong foundation in Accounting while developing the behaviours and skills employers expect.

In your first year, you will study core units covering a range of topics such as:
• Fundamentals of financial accounting
• Elementary financial principles, concepts and practices
• Accounting, bookkeeping, and business mathematics
• Professionalism and ethics
• Responsibilities in the workplace
• Data, analytics and design thinking

In your second year, you will study ‘Assistant Accounting’ as an occupational specialism.

Your industry placement is designed to bring everything together. Applying your theory knowledge in the world gives you valuable insight into how accountants operate and helps you build confidence in a professional environment.

All this means you don’t just get to learn about Accounting but truly experience it during your time at College.
