Access to Higher Education: Healthcare Professions

To test your knowledge of the healthcare world and to ensure you’re ready for university study or a new career, assessments take place throughout the year.

You can expect to take part in a unique blend of essays, reports, presentations, timed classroom sessions and group discussions, for you to showcase your new skills and abilities.

Former students have gone on to universities across the country, studying a range of degrees from Paramedical Science to Midwifery, to other fields such as Chemistry.

Access to HE qualifications have also been used to kickstart careers in numerous healthcare roles.

For Melynda, choosing the Healthcare Professions pathway was a no-brainer for her next steps:

“On researching progression routes I realised I would need a higher Biology grade if I were to apply for an Adult Nursing degree programme, and this Access to HE course will give me that. The course has been really in-depth and interesting. Having looked at the modules that I’ll be covering at university, I feel like the topics we’ve learnt this year have set me up well for success.”

Trips to universities, both locally and further afield, are designed so that you explore a range of further study options first-hand, understand what student life looks like, and meet those studying your degree of interest.

In addition to trips, you’ll also be further prepared for your next steps by taking part in social action projects across the campus during Community Weeks. Not only do these boost your personal growth, but you’ll also give back and impact Canterbury for the better.

This course is only for students aged 19 or over.

You may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.

The loan for your Access to HE course will be written off by Student Finance England upon completion of your degree at university.
