Course overview

If you are passionate about taking photos and want to progress your skills further, you should study Photography. This A Level will give you the opportunity to explore and develop a visual language using the photographic process, as well as develop the technical skills required to succeed.

The programme builds transferrable skills that are desirable to employers including research, critical analysis, creative problem solving and communicating effectively, all of which underpin the skills required for further study and are valued by businesses and organisations in a range of careers.

Course information

You will produce practical and critical contextual work by exploring the following:

• Portraiture
• Landscape photography
• Still life photography
• Documentary photography
• Photojournalism
• Fashion photography
• Experimental and multimedia
• Installation and moving image

Progression to the second year of this A Level course will be dependent on having made satisfactory progress in the first year of the course, including achieving at least an E grade in a formal late spring assessment, as well as the maintenance of a good level of attendance and commitment throughout the year.
