Classical Civilisation A Level gives you an understanding of some of the oldest and most engaging literature and art ever produced.
You will gain a deep insight into the Greek and Roman world, from which sprang much of European thought and art, and which underlies our modern cultural outlook.
This course is uniquely interdisciplinary, combining elements of literature, history and philosophy. You will develop a range of skills, such as deductive reasoning, analysis and essay writing.
You will study The World of the Hero, Greeks and Barbarians and Greek Religion.
Progression onto Year Two
Progression to the second year of this A Level course will be dependent on having made satisfactory progress in the first year of the course, including achieving at least an E grade in a formal late spring assessment, as well as the maintenance of a good level of attendance and commitment throughout the year.
