Course overview

You should study Fine Art because you enjoy the creative process alongside developing the creative technical skills required, including drawing, painting, printing and 3D techniques.

Art and Design subjects equip you with the transferable skills that are desirable to employers including research, critical analysis, creative problem solving and communicating effectively.

Course information

You will improve your artistic abilities and gain an understanding of the creative process, alongside developing visual communications skills.

Areas of study include:

  • Drawing and mark-making
  • Painting and mixed media
  • Printmaking and collage
  • Sculpture and ‘drawing’ in 3D
  • Photography and film
  • Installation

Progression onto Year Two

Progression to the second year of this A Level course will be dependent on having made satisfactory progress in the first year of the course, including achieving at least an E grade in a formal late spring assessment, as well as the maintenance of a good level of attendance and commitment throughout the year.
