Vanessa Nedderman

An experienced outreach professional, Vanessa Nedderman has spent her working career in adult education, educational guidance and higher education, focusing on collaboration and inter-institutional partnerships.

Vanessa’s first role after graduation was with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where she worked in a number of departments including the East African Department, the Iraq/Kuwait Emergency Unit and Arms Control and Disarmament. Moving to Cambridge in 1991, she worked for a number of years with the University of Cambridge Board of Continuing Education running University courses at a range of local community colleges and centres across East Anglia.

After moving to Kent, Vanessa worked for Kent Adult Education as an educational guidance adviser in Folkestone and Ashford and joined the University of Kent in 2004. At the University, Vanessa has held a number of roles relating to widening participation and has been responsible for the university’s liaison with the EKC Group and other FE providers in the region.

In her current role, she is responsible for the delivery of the University’s outreach programme, run in partnership with schools and colleges across Kent and Medway, and for oversight of the University’s role as lead institution for the Kent and Medway Collaborative Outreach Programme (KaMCOP).

Vanessa lives in East Kent with her husband and has three grown up children. She is closely involved in her local village community, editing the village newsletter and acting as churchwarden for the local church. She is a member of a local adult ballet class and, for fun, makes elaborate birthday and celebration cakes for friends and family.
