Joanna Denness
Joanna has worked in the Education sector for 30 years, with roles including, Tutor, Head of Department, Assistant Principal and Deputy Principal.
Joanna works with curriculum heads to develop their provision to ensure it meets local, regional and national skills needs with a portfolio of experience that consists of a wide range of academic areas: from Visual and Performing Arts, to Health & Social Care, Engineering and much more. She has engaged with many groups to involve employers and key stakeholders to underpin curriculum activity and to enhance the student experience. Joanna gains inspiration when individuals proactively engage in the in the development of the College.
Throughout her management career Joanna has demonstrated support, trust and mutual respect of business and personal priorities and has experimented with new ways of working to better meet business goals and personal needs, always engaging with new initiatives.
Joanna has a track record of providing highly effective leadership to curriculum departments. Her continued improvement in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, through the planning of relevant staff development and effective management of improvement in performance, has resulted in improved outcomes for many students.
Still very much involved with her original trade of Hairdressing, Joanna enjoys cutting friends and families hair. Taking her dogs for long walks in the woods, and enjoying the company of friends and family.
