Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying

This pathway gives you time to develop skills in your chosen area and improve your English and maths to a grade 4 or equivalent. Reaching this level will help you have more opportunities in the future, like getting a skilled job, an apprenticeship, or moving on to a Level 3 course.

To join this programme, you’ll need the equivalent of 4 GCSEs at grades 2 to 1, including English and maths at Level 1 or higher.

This is a highly practical course, meaning much of your time will be spent
learning by doing. In our well-equipped construction workshops, you’ll practise
the same techniques used on real building sites while being supported by
experienced tutors with industry knowledge. As your confidence grows, you will
take on more challenging tasks and projects, helping you develop the precision,
patience and attention to detail that great bricklayers are known for.

Assessment will be through completing a portfolio of work, practical
observations, written work and an online test.

On successful completion you could move onto a higher level of study or
Apprenticeship elsewhere. Alternatively, you could seek employment within the
industry (you may need to gain a CSCS Card first).

There are no fees for this course if you are under 18.

Dedicated Work Experience opportunities are supported by our Industry Liaison
Officer, who will find opportunities that are right for you. These will give you
key experiences ready for your future. You will also be encouraged to take part
in local and national skills competitions.

Throughout the year, students take part in regular industry relevant trips,
these include construction site visits and warehouse tours allowing you to see
the inner workings of the construction industry firsthand.

We also benefit our community by taking part in social action projects which
help with development and skill progression, as well as making a difference
locally.

You will be required to wear construction uniform and workshop PPE.

As English and Maths are a key part of the course, you can learn these to
GCSE or Functional Skills level alongside your studies.

During your time on the course, you may also have the opportunity to:

• Take part in skills competitions like KFE4Skills
  that allow you to showcase your abilities and compete with other students.
  


• Work on community
  projects, applying your skills to real-life builds that benefit
  local organisations.


• Build teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills that employers
  look for in the construction industry.
