Course overview

Picture yourself in a role where you make a real difference – responding to emergencies, protecting communities or supporting people when they need it most. If you can see yourself in the police, fire service, armed forces or another public service, this course is your first step.

Train in a hands-on environment where you’ll build fitness, develop teamwork and take part in realistic scenarios that reflect the demands of the job. From outdoor challenges to leadership tasks, you’ll start developing the skills and mindset needed to succeed.

Public services play a vital role in society and are always in demand. This is a career where no two days are the same, where you’ll be part of something bigger and where your work has real purpose, protecting, supporting and making a difference in your community.

This two-year programme provides additional time to achieve a Level 2 in English and/or Maths, with additional trips, activities, employer engagement opportunities.

Course information

Step into a course that challenges you physically and mentally as you build the core skills needed for a career in the public services.

Take part in team-based activities and leadership challenges, developing the communication, resilience and decision-making skills that are essential across all uniformed services. You’ll learn how to work under pressure, support others and take responsibility in practical, real-world scenarios.

Head outdoors and put your skills into action with land navigation, building your confidence in unfamiliar environments while learning how to plan, adapt and respond effectively. Take part in army-style drills that develop discipline, teamwork and your ability to respond under pressure. And also complete regular fitness sessions that push your endurance, strength and resilience.

You will gain a strong understanding of how public services operate, preparing you for the physical demands and expectations of the sector.
