Train through a mix of practical sessions and theory as you build your understanding of how the body works, how athletes perform and how to plan effective training. You won’t just learn about sport, you’ll take part, lead and develop the confidence to work with others.
The sport and fitness industry is constantly growing, with increasing focus on health, wellbeing and performance. This two-year course gives you the foundation to be part of that future, whether you progress into coaching, fitness or further study.
By the end of the two years, you’ll have built a strong foundation, preparing you to progress onto a Level 3 course and continue your journey into the fitness industry.
This two-year programme provides additional time to achieve a Level 2 in English and/or Maths, with additional trips, activities, employer engagement opportunities.

Get active as you take part in a range of practical sports, developing your own performance and stamina, whilst learning what it takes to train effectively.
You’ll step into the role of a coach as you plan and deliver your own sessions, building confidence in how you lead, motivate and support others. You’ll learn how to structure sessions, give feedback and help people improve the fitness levels.
Explore how the body responds to exercise through fitness testing and training, understanding how to measure performance and track progress. You’ll also look at sports psychology, discovering how mindset and motivation impact performance.
You’ll also gain an understanding of injuries in sport, learning how they happen and how they can be prevented – an essential skill for anyone working in sport or fitness.
