UAL Level 3 Diploma in Fashion and Textiles

To study at Level 3, you will need an average entry score of 5.0 from your best 6 GCSE subjects, ideally including English and Maths.

You will also be required to show a portfolio of work when you apply. In instances where little or no portfolio and/or performance experience is shown, we will guide you towards the best course to help you build your portfolio and develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed at higher levels.

This study programme is designed to help you move quickly toward advanced jobs, higher education, or apprenticeship opportunities if you know what you want to do next and meet the entry requirements needed for success.

You will learn through practical lessons in our modern studios and be assessed through multiple projects that will build your artistic skills and creative portfolio.

Your final project each year will be the main basis of your grade, giving you the opportunity to take creative control, develop your personal style and produce a standout collection or body of work that showcases your skills and prepares you for your next step.

By the end of your course, you’ll be ready to take your next step into the world of fashion and textiles.

This course opens the door to a range of creative careers, including:
• Fashion design
• Textile design
• Fashion illustration
• Garment construction
• Styling and fashion promotion
• Costume design

You can progress onto higher education at university or specialist art schools, start a higher-level apprenticeship, or begin building your career in the fashion and creative industries.

During the course you will have the chance to take part in lots of exciting trips and projects. From visiting museums, art exhibitions and fashion manufacturers, there’s always opportunities for you to continue learning outside of the textiles workshop.

Gain behind-the-scenes knowledge of how professional designers work as you take part in exciting industry trips and projects throughout the year. You’ll have the opportunity to work collaboratively with local creatives as you build confidence and your own artistic style. And gain a front row seat to a range of exciting expert talks, where you will meet people from the industry who can help you grow your skillset and your network.

Watch on with pride as your work is displayed across a variety of exhibitions and art shows throughout the year, including the ever-expanding and highly anticipated end-of-year fashion show.

Additional Work Experience opportunities will be supported by our Industry Liaison Officer, who will find exciting opportunities that are right for you and your interests.

Depending on the qualifications you hold upon enrolment, you may be advised to study this qualification over two or three years. This will be thoroughly discussed at interview to ensure that you are on the most appropriate programme of study.
