UAL Level 3 Diploma in Graphic Design and Illustration – Year 1 of 2

To study this course you should have:

At least six GCSEs at an average grade of 5.

OR

I have a Level 2 in my chosen subject.

You will learn through practical lessons in our modern digital studios and be assessed through multiple projects that will build your creative skills.

Your final project each year will be the main basis of your grade, giving you the chance to showcase the skills you’ve developed. Throughout the year you will also complete regular assessments, providing you with detailed feedback to help you improve your skills and knowledge.

By the end of your course, you’ll be well-prepared to venture into the world of graphic design and illustration.

• Branding and visual identity
• Advertising and marketing
• Publishing
• Digital media

Progress to higher education at a range of universities and prestigious art schools across the country. Previous students have undertaken courses in areas such as illustration, advertising, fashion marketing, games design and more.

You could also go onto a specialised apprenticeship or start your professional career in the art industry in a diverse range of creative careers.

During the course you will have the chance to take part in lots of exciting trips and projects, from museum visits to art exhibitions and artist talks, where you will meet creatives from the industry who can help you grow your skillset and network.

From showcasing your work at the College’s end of year exhibition to taking part and even leading on community art shows, there are always opportunities for you to show off your work to your peers and industry professionals. You will also be encouraged to show off your design talents during exciting skills competitions where you’re artwork will be seen and judged by top industry professionals.

Additional dedicated Work Experience opportunities will be supported by our Industry Liaison Officer, who will find additional projects and placements that are right for you.

Depending on the qualifications you hold upon enrolment, you may be advised to study this qualification over two or three years. This will be discussed at interview to ensure that you are offered the most appropriate programme of study.
