Want to push your sewing skills to the next level? Want a new sewing challenge? Would you like to add your own handmade collection to your wardrobe?

Course information

This is a short, advanced course aimed to expand your sewing techniques and push your confidence to sew and alter your own clothes or just add your own individuality to a garment.

Gemma Vincent is a seamstress with 14 years experience in making and altering Costumes for the West End theatre, as well as TV and Film. She also has her own Clothing brand, Sewin Love, combining her passion for tattoos and the rockabilly style.

On this course you will learn how to:

  • Flat draft a basic jacket
  • Be creative with your pattern to give it your own style
  • Fit and alter to your measurements
  • Add a collar
  • Line a jacket
  • Add fastenings such as buttonholes

Guidance on all techniques and machinery will be given throughout.

We provide a fully-equipped studio and supplies, except your final garment fabric as everyone’s tastes/styles are different.

This 6 week course runs from 6.00pm – 9.00pm on the following dates:

Advanced Sewing – 1 / 6 – Thurs 18th April
Advanced Sewing – 2 / 6 – Thurs 25th April
Advanced Sewing – 3 / 6 – Thurs 2nd May
Advanced Sewing – 4 / 6 – Thurs 9th May
Advanced Sewing – 5 / 6 – Thurs 16th May
Advanced Sewing – 6 / 6 – Thurs 23rd May

Free parking is available on site. Location – If you are new to Canterbury College (New Dover Road) please come to the main reception and the tutor will meet you there 15 minutes before the start of the course.
