AAT Accounting Intermediate Level 2
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. The purpose of the qualification is to offer grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either in employment or to a more advanced level of study. The qualification takes one year to complete.
What will I learn?
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting covers a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in five mandatory units which ensure that students are well prepared to progress into a career in finance or professional accountancy. The units are:
- Bookkeeping Transactions
- Bookkeeping Controls
- Elements of Costing
- Using Accounting Software
- Work Effectively in Finance
How will I be assessed?
All assessments are set and marked by AAT. Four units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments (exams) and one synoptic assessment sat at the end of the course examines all of the units.
What may it lead to?
The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning.
A good standard of English and Maths is required (ideally GCSE at grade C or above, or equivalent). Apprentices must be in full-time employment in an accounting or finance role.

You will be required to purchase a set of text books which will be available to buy direct from the publisher at a book sale held on enrolment day. Books purchased at enrolment will be heavily discounted.
