Studying sport isn't just about improving your fitness or learning to coach others, its also about understanding the science behind sporting excellence. With our Sport England Standard facilities, our courses can help you reach your goals. Sport qualifications combine physical training, understanding coaching techniques, learning scientific approaches and sports development. These elements come together, allowing you to improve your levels of fitness and training. Your lessons will take place in facilities featuring a full-size sports hall, gym and fitness studios.
Work experience is an essential part of the Study Programme and must be undertaken by all students. In the past, students have taken placements at professional sport clubs as well as local leisure centres and schools. You will be taught by lecturers who have sports experience at a regional and national level. For example, staff have played rugby at national level, worked with Championship football clubs, and refereed basketball at regional level. Their expertise will benefit you on the playing field, during training, and in the classroom.
Work Experience Works
Sports student learns new skills at local company Canoe Wild
“I want to study outdoor studies at University and felt like being at Canoe Wild was the best place to help me achieve the right experience. It was good to see how things worked in the organisation side of things, as I maintained the canoe equipment." Luke Gore, Level 3 Sports Coaching
"Luke was a great help to Canoe Wild. He was hands-on and happy to get stuck in and took everything in his stride. As a result he will now be helping us on a regular basis and will be doing some summer work." Andrew from Canoe Wild
