Media & Communication

Introduction

TV, radio, film, game design, journalism – there are many places a qualification in media and communication can lead to. Our courses are perfect for those who enjoy exploring their creative side and learning about new technologies. We offer a wide range of highly practical, hands-on Study Programmes for those passionate about media and communication. Our creative courses are accredited by the world-class University of the Arts, London.

We have the area’s largest media & communication department. Students are encouraged to explore their creative side and develop skills needed for a career in the media or a place at university.

The department has excellent industry links, allowing students to work with clients on real media projects. Students use the College TV and radio studios, which are equipped to industry standard. We also have industry-relevant software for film and video editing, print work and game design.

Great Student Experiences

Creative media student Carla Binder recently won first prize in a prestigious national film competition for her documentary ‘Voices to be Heard’.

Carla was chosen as the winner from over 400 entries in this year’s University of the Arts London (UAL) exhibition of art, design and creative media competition. The competition formed part of the UAL’s exhibition ‘Origins’ which featured work produced by students from across the UK who are studying the recognised UAL Awarding Body Qualification.

“I was very happy to be announced as the winner for the creative media category. Canterbury College has given me lots of opportunities and my confidence has grown, winning has been such a positive experience!” Carla Binder, Level 2 Creative Media
