Further Financial Information for EU/EEA students
Student Support is the name given to financial support provided in the UK for students. It takes the form of Student Loans, grants and maintenance payments depending on the course of study and the students circumstances.
Further Education students from the EU/EEA need to contact the College to see if they qualify for a discretionary Learner Support Fund payment an Educational Maintenace Allowance (up to £30 per week), or an Adult Learning Grant. Usually a student must have been resident in the UK or EU for the past three years. These funds are aimed at assisting students from low income families generally those earning £19,000 a year and less.
Higher Education students from the EU/EEA can also receive help with their costs while studying. Generally repayable student loans available for all students and non-repayable maintenance grants of up to £2835 (2008/09 figures) for those from families with low incomes can be applied for. Higher Education students need to be on a full-time course that leads to one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts and undergraduate degrees
- Higher National Diploma (HND)
- Higher National Certificate (HNC)
- Teacher Training
- Diplomas in Higher Education
