Health & Social Care Extended Diploma - Level 3
A broad-based qualifi cation designed to prepare students for a range of careers in health and social care or for entry into higher education. Work placement is a mandatory requirement of the course.
What will I learn?
Year 1 covers: effective communication, equality and diversity, health and safety, lifespan, anatomy and physiology, personal and professional development. Year 2 covers: sociological perspectives, psychological perspectives, caring for young children, safeguarding adults, physiological disorders, and psychological perspectives.
How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed through assignments.
What may it lead to?
Guaranteed Higher Education Progression at Canterbury College (see page 13). Students can progress into careers in the health and social care fi eld.
Entry Requirements:
5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English, Maths and Science, or a relevant Level 2 course at Distinction; a successful interview; a good reference, and CRB Check.
Additional Information & Other Costs:
100 hours of mandatory work placements are an integral part of this course. You will undertake a placement, termly, to allow you to develop your own area of interest.
