Art and Design BTEC Extended Diploma - Level 3
This course will give you a comprehensive introduction to a wide variety of art & design activities in Year 1, with opportunity to focus in a more specialised pathway in Year 2. We will help you to discover your strengths and interests so you can decide which type of degree or HND course to apply for. You will be encouraged to develop an understanding of the historical development of Art and Design and to establish a critical appreciation.
What will I learn?
Course content to include: Developmental drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Ceramics, Photography, Textiles/fashion, Community art, Computer-based art, Functional Skills.
How will I be assessed?
Through a programme of creative assignments, one to one tutorials, group critical discussions, self-evaluation and a final exhibition of your work at the end of the course.
What may it lead to?
Past students have successfully progressed to a variety of higher level courses, including: Fine Art Painting, Printing, Sculpture, Fashion, Textiles, Costume Design, Architecture and Interior Design, Silversmithing and Jewellery.
Entry Requirements:
4 GCSEs at C or above with a high grade in Art & Design or a BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design. English is preferable. A good portfolio of varied artwork is essential for interview.

Work-related projects are an integral part of the course.
We offer an exciting range of study trips and gallery visits for all Art and Design courses in the UK, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona and Berlin. Additional fees will be discussed at interview. Students from this course have an excellent record in gaining places at Art Schools and Universities.
