Preparing for Teaching in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS) - Level 3
The Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is for pre-service and in-service teachers and trainers. The award is designed for learners who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector (LLS). It is ideal for those wishing to enter teaching in the LLS in England. PTLLS is widely recognised as the standard for those beginning to teach in the non-regulated sector in England, as well as in other nations. Pre-service is defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers whereas in-service is defined as those who are.
What will I learn?
There are the four sections of the course: Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning, Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning, Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning, Principles of assessment in lifelong learning.
How will I be assessed?
There is no exam for this course. You will be required to complete a portfolio based on assignments, and take part in an observed micro Teaching session.
What may it lead to?
This Level 3 PTLLS course does not constitute the first part of the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS); which is at Level 4 in year one and 5 in year 2. It provides progression from the PTLLs onto the DTLLS.
Entry Requirements:
There is no exam for this course. You will be required to complete a portfolio based on your work throughout the course to achieve the tasks set in each unit.

The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector delivers 48 hours face to face teacher student contact. It is delivered in three hour sessions over 16 weeks.
