Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)


The Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) is suitable for those who work or want to work as a teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector, i.e. further, adult and community education, work based learning and the voluntary sector, provided they are qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach at the appropriate level. The programme advances students understanding of teaching beyond the level of the PTLLS which is itself a part of the CTLLS programme.


What will I learn?

PTLLS: Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Lifelong Learning, Understanding Inclusive Learning and teaching in Lifelong learning, Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in Lifelong Learning, Principles of assessment in Lifelong learning. CTLLS: Delivering Lifelong Learning, Assessing learners in Lifelong Learning, Planning to meet the needs of Learners, Using Resources for Lifelong Learning, Understanding and Managing behaviours in a learning environment, Equality and Diversity .

How will I be assessed?

Through a combination of written assignments, group work, presentations, and lesson observations

What may it lead to?

This Level 4 CTLLS course provides progression from the PTLLS onto the CTLLS and contributes towards the skills, knowledge and understanding for the Lifelong Learning UK occupational standards. Students can progress to the DTLLS programme The programme prepares teachers for a range of teaching, training and associated teaching roles in the Life Long Learning Sector.

Entry Requirements:

The decision as to what constitutes entry qualifications/experience is at the discretion of the College and will be assessed through the interview procedure.
