Our range of courses are suitable for 14 to 16 year old students who show potential in practical subjects and offer an alternative to school curriculum based studies.
We have a range of programmes detailing opportunities to study, progression onto Further Education and preparation for learning in an adult environment.
Canterbury College is part of the 14-19 Partnership.
“The Canterbury 14-19 partnership includes all of the secondary schools in Canterbury and Faversham, as well as Canterbury College. There will be an emerging common timetable between these schools and the College.”
Increased Flexibility Programmes (IFP)
IFP qualifications have been designed to complement the school curriculum. Commencing the programme during Year 10 the course concludes at the end of Year 11.
Continual assessment occurs during the academic year which will enable the student to achieve their chosen vocational qualification and offer progression options to further areas of study.
Through the ‘Increased Flexibility Programme’ the College aims to:
- Support Young People in their progression from school to college.
- Increase and widen the participation of young people studying a range of vocational qualifications.
- Broaden young people’s learning experience and practical skills.
- Increase progression opportunities for young people on to Further Education and training.
- Raise young people’s achievements and aspirations by offering opportunities to pursue vocational qualifications.
