Students put on a fantastic show earlier this week, displaying their talents through a series of performances at Canterbury Festival’s Spiegeltent.
“I’m very pleased that our students were able to take part in the Canterbury Festival and perform in such a lovely venue. The students gave an excellent performance and I’m sure they’ll remember it for a long time.” Aaron Davis, Music Tutor
Performing Arts students explored a diverse range of subjects through physical theatre such as mental health, control and witchcraft, whilst the second year dancers choreographed and performed energetic dances to contemporary music, demonstrating their knowledge of hip hop, lindy hop and jazz.
“I really enjoyed playing at the Spiegeltent. It was a unique place to play and a great atmosphere – I’d love to be able to do it again!” – Oliver Golding, Level 3 Music
The performances came as a result on an ongoing partnership with the Canterbury Festival, with the aim that students in creative industries get access to the best opportunities throughout their time at college.
“Canterbury Festival has really enjoyed working with students from Canterbury College this year. We’ve had musicians enter our battle of the bands competition Track Record, graphic design students submit entries for our Poetry Anthology front cover, visual arts students invigilate an international exhibition and performance students enter our theatre and dance competitions.” – Liz Flynn, Participation Manager, Canterbury Festival.
