The Canterbury School of Visual Arts (CSVA) incorporates a dynamic and career-relevant curriculum that covers further education and degree-level courses.

Students have access to first-class facilities across Graphic Design, Photography, Pottery, Fashion and Textiles, and Design.

The programme launched at the College last week (May 4) at a packed launch party. The student-designed brand logo was unveiled to a diverse audience including artists, stakeholders, alumni and staff.

College Principal, Lucy McLeod, delivered a short speech. She said: "The programme is designed to give students a seamless journey from level 1, right up to the level 6 degree modules, which we are working in collaboration with Kent University."

Lecturer Ben Kidger also spoke and highlighted the importance of promoting a career-relevant programme with industry links.

He said: "I run a gallery in Teddington near London and a student asked me for some work experience. She is now studying at the University of Leeds but contacted me over the summer.

“She needed more work experience because that part of her course was completely lacking, with seemingly no links to industry. What we are doing here tonight is sharing contacts - it's increasingly important to develop those links."

East Kent boasts a thriving and vibrant creative scene with notable employers such as Turner Contemporary spearheading regeneration in the region.

The creative industries include a very diverse range of creative careers. Previous students have progressed to undertake specialist courses in Graphic Design, Illustration, Advertising and Marketing.

Learners have also progressed into brilliant careers ranging from an infographic designer for The Telegraph Group, a lead creative for Eat and a sculptor for Madam Tussauds.

This exciting new creative department is underpinned by ambition and professional expertise. It continues to strive for ever-stronger relationships with our stakeholders within a dynamic learning environment.
