Canterbury College is once again delighted to be supporting the Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEIBA).
The KEIBA Awards, launched last year, were created to recognise and award excellence in Kent's businesses and this year Canterbury College students will be contributing their Graphic Design and Catering skills toward the awards.
The awards are run by Kent County Council and the Kent Messenger Group. The awards offer prizes to the best businesses and organisations across a dozen categories from ‘Large business of the Year’ to ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Business Community of Kent’.
Last July Canterbury College joined Kent County Council, Royal Mail, Business Link, Heart FM and other sponsors at a sparkling awards event at Leeds Castle to celebrate the business community of Kent.
At the awards event the College catering department made petit fours for the evening and the media department put together a short ‘behind the scenes’ video to help document the students’ involvement. Simon Hogben, a Graphic Design Student from Canterbury College, created the official KEIBA programme. He said; “It has been a privilege to work on this exciting live project; I based my whole final major piece on the KEIBA brief and I am thrilled to have gained the highest possible marks”.
Morag Welham Project Manager KEiBA, KM Group said: “The students and staff at Canterbury College were a joy to work with - they assisted with our event in a very professional manner with floristry, graphic design and the most gorgeous chocolates to finish off our meal. I hope that we can work with them again next year”.
Canterbury College is no stranger to working with the business community. Every area of the College has a business and employer agenda and operates quarterly stakeholder groups. These help to inform, shape and ensure that Canterbury College has a constant connection with the modern business world.
Mark Hill, the Director of Business Development and Associated Services at Canterbury College said: ‘We are delighted to be involved in one of Kent’s most prestigious business awards for the second year. As one of the areas largest providers of Further Education and professional training we are always keen to build on our relationships with the Kent business community. These new awards are an excellent opportunity for our students to gain real life experiences, working with real businesses.’ He added: ‘We are very proud of the achievements of our students and staff. This year alone our business students have provided student ambassadors services at Canterbury City Council events, we have exhibited at the Hampton Court Flower show, and four of our students are finalists in the national competition to design the official London 2012 education logo’.
The awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner on 1 July 2010 - for more details visit: www.keiba.co.uk
