Education and Training Diploma Level 5
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a two year programme leading to a nationally recognised level 5 teaching qualification. The Diploma prepares trainee teachers and trainers to teach in a wide range of contexts. This can include individuals who are currently teaching or training and those currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a teaching qualification. A further group who could benefit are experienced teachers or trainers who have been out of practice for some time and are seeking to update existing qualifications as a part of their return to teaching.

What will I learn?
The Diploma allows learners to explore how the wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding involved in teaching, learning and assessment can be applied to a variety of contexts. Learning on the programme is particularly relevant for individuals whose teaching or training role involves the preparation and planning of teaching, learning and assessment and will equip students with the professional skills to teach in the further education sector.
What may it lead to?
Learners who achieve the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training can apply to become members of the Education and Training Foundation to gain qualified teacher learning and skills (QTLS) status.
Applicants must be able to provide evidence that they can achieve the required teaching practice, i.e. 100 hours of teaching over two years. Any appropriate location for practice that will allow a trainee teacher to meet the required standards is permitted. As this is a level 5 course there is a need for applicants to be able to complete complex written assignments, preferably demonstrating a level 2 standard of English.
