The Children's Centre is a purpose built Day Nursery situated on the outskirts of Canterbury within the grounds of Canterbury College.
The Centre was built in 2005 and being based in the College we normally provide facilities for students and staff but also community members.
Our Centre caters for children between 2 and 5 years old and we only manage a maximum of 24 children and is open 50 weeks of the year, weekdays 0815 - 1730.
The Centre is managed by Debra Ashley and she is supported by 5 staff in the Centre throughout each day.
Both our group rooms have permanent members of staff based within them to provide stability, consistency and familiarity for the children.
The Centre consists of 2 group rooms; Caterpillar and Butterfly Room, Ladybird, Leaf and quiet rooms.
About the Rooms
The Children’s Centre values the need for children to be together with different age groups, as well as needing time to grow and develop within a learning area specifically for their age.
On a regular basis all children meet for free play, both in and outdoors, helping them to care, share and learn from their peers.
More challenging and extended activities are provided for the older children, along with adult led activity.
All staff members are qualified in childcare and have completed satisfactory enhanced criminal record certificates obtained by The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
The Children’s Centre OFSTED inspection 12th December 2011 achieved Grade 2 Good: This aspect of the provision is strong.
