Students' Union

When you enrol at the Professional Development Centre at Sheppey you become a member of the Students' Union. In conjunction with the Student Activities Co-ordinator based at Canterbury College the Students' Union organises a whole range of activities including trips to Paris and Amsterdam, major music gigs including Glastonbury, Robbie Williams and the Kaiser Chiefs, and many sporting events.You will also become a member of the National Union of Students and, of course, having an NUS card entitles you to discounts at a variety of national outlets.

The Learning Resources Centre (LRC)

This is situated at the heart of the Centre and provides students with lending and reference resources and learning support including full access to computers and the Internet. All students are encouraged to use the open access IT network with its range of word-processing, computing and desktop publishing software. The Open Learning Centre is based within the Learning Resources Centre and there is plenty of space for quiet independent study. Careers information, advice and guidance is available from the LRC staff and a wide variety of careers resources are also available.

The Refectory

The Refectory is open throughout the day and serves meals and refreshments including breakfast.

Hair & Beauty

For hair and beauty treatments at very reasonable rates, contact the College’s Hair and Beauty Salon on 01795 669763. The Salon is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays during term time.

Campusbound Travel & Floristry Shop

As a student at the Professional Development Centre at Sheppey, you are also a student of Canterbury College so are entitled to make use of the wide range of facilities on offer there, including the Campusbound Travel Agency, 01227 811231 and Floristry Shop, 01227 811338, offering excellent service at extremely competitive prices.
