Over a number of years Canterbury College has developed close partnerships with employers, organisations and educational institutions to meet the needs of students and the local economy.

Canterbury College offers a number of courses in partnership with universities. These include the University of Greenwich, University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University.

For certain courses, students have the option to continue their studies to gain a full honours degree by completing an extra top up year.

University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich traces its roots to 1890, when Britain’s second polytechnic was opened near the Thames at Woolwich to teach practical and commercial skills to London workers. An innovator from the start, the polytechnic pioneered the country’s first part-time day-release and sandwich courses. University status was awarded in 1992.

The university currently has around 23,000 students and campuses in Greenwich and Eltham, in south-east London, and Medway, in Kent.

Partner Colleges

The University of Greenwich works closely with a number of further and higher education colleges in the South East, including Canterbury College. Through this network, the university's approximately 2,500 partner college students are helped to take up higher education programmes, either at their own college or by progression on to university. A popular route, for example, is to take a foundation degree at college, followed by an honours degree “top-up” year or other qualification at the University of Greenwich.

Partner college students have access to a range of University of Greenwich services. These include:

• the university's portal online resources;
• the university’s JobShop, which can help you find part-time and vacation work;
• online “Skills for Learning” packages;
• careers advice;
• online study support materials for foundation degrees; 
• disability and dyslexia support;
• study skills workshops and Summer University courses and support;
• university libraries and computer labs (accessible by visiting in person or via the Web for online resources);
• Students’ Union bars, provided you are over 18.

Canterbury Christ Church University

Canterbury Christ Church is a modern, multi-campus university, and is the largest centre of higher education in Kent for the public services – notably teacher training, nursing, policing, health and social care.

The university is considered to be among the best in the country for initial teacher training (recently rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted), and is actively helping to shape education and healthcare practice, regionally and nationally, through research and teaching.

Christ Church also offers a wide range of courses in arts and humanities, business and management as well as social and applied sciences.

University of Kent

Kent is a dynamic institution which provides higher education of an excellent quality and has three main faculties: Humanities, Science, Technology and medical studies and thirdly Social Sciences.

Kent University is an intellectual and cultural focus for Canterbury and Kent and continues to build vigorously on its close ties within Europe to continue to develop wider international relations.
