Success for Business Students’ Start-ups

As part of their course, students on the AS Applied Business qualification have set up their own businesses and successfully raised money for Cancer Research.  The class was split into three business enterprise groups and each group had to create their own start up business.  The groups had to plan, time manage, research their concept and take it to the market place, whilst writing up a detailed assignment as part of their qualification.

The enterprises included a photographic company, a company selling Valentines Day gifts and a personalised cards business.  All the enterprise groups made a profit, totalling approximately £450.  As an excellent gesture all the groups decided to donate their profits to charity.  Afterwards, all the students expressed how much they had enjoyed the experience with several saying that running their own business had not been as easy as they had first thought. “its not as easy as it sounds in theory, especially when it’s put into practice!” said one student.
