Students from Canterbury College have been showing-off their sporting skills at an annual sports tournament involving FE Colleges and sixth forms from across Kent.

The College football, netball, basket ball and rugby teams attended the multi-sports festival, which was staged at North West Kent College in Dartford.

The teams were predominantly made-up of students studying Sport at the New Dover Road campus, but also involved students from a variety of other courses.  The Canterbury College netball team were most successful and were runners-up of the overall tournament.

Sport Lecturer Andrew Dowell, said: “We take students to this Sports Festival every year and it’s always a great experience for them to compete with students from other College and six forms students from across the County. With the Olympics in London next summer, sport is going to high on the agenda for a lot of people and we’re looking forward to welcoming new students onto our sports courses in September.”

This year’s festival was designed to promote the values of the London 2012 Olympics to all competitors.

Canterbury College was the first College to join the Get Set network which is a special community of schools and colleges which are demonstrating a commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values.
