Students Create Hair Raising Designs at Annual Show

Hairdressing students at the Sheppey Campus of Canterbury College created some amazing designs at their annual Hair Extravaganza.

This year the event, which has been a regular fixture in the College calendar for several years, was called “Hair in their Eyes” and took place at the Campus on Bridge Road in Sheerness on Tuesday 26th April.

Students doing an NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing have to take part in the show to complete their course. Each student created different hairstyles on three models which were then judged and awarded. The students were also involved in the costume and make-up design.

Categories / Winners:

  • Avant Garde – Chloe Morgan, 20, Sheerness
  • Prom – Katrina Cook, 36, Sittingbourne
  • Fancy Dress – Erin Banks, 19, Half Way
  • Overall winner – Erin Banks

Cheryl Philpott, Hairdressing course tutor, said: “All of the students involved in the show have worked incredibly hard over the past few months organising the event and then creating some amazing hairstyles on the day. The show is a great opportunity for them to show friends and family how much they’ve learned whilst they’ve been at Sheppey campus and I’m sure they all have great careers ahead of them.”

This year’s event raised almost £200 for FSID – the UK’s leading baby charity working to prevent sudden deaths and promote health.
