Dance Students Freya Killin (left) and Billy-Joe Poole (right) celebrate being offered places at Stella Mann Dance College

Two students at Canterbury College are celebrating after being offered places at a top Performing Arts College.

17 year-olds Billy-Joe Poole, and Freya Killin, joined Canterbury College last September on the one year course - Fast Track to Stage School Diploma in Dance - and have both been offered places at Stella Mann Dance College after successful auditions. They will be able to join the performing arts employment agency at the school too.

Billy-Joe, who’s from Deal, has only been dancing for two years although he has been doing gymnastics for the past 11 years. Meanwhile, Freya, who lives in St Margarets, started ballet when she was just three years-old.

Already this year they have performed in Canterbury College’s production of Peter Pan, danced for visitors at the College’s Open Days and were filmed by Meridian Television for their coverage of events at the College during Blue Monday.

Amy Flight, Dance Course Tutor at Canterbury College, said: “This is fantastic news for Billy-Joe and Freya and is a great reward for the dedicated hard work they have put into their technical development and performances. The high standard of teaching and professional training available for students here at Canterbury College has enabled many students in the past to progress to Dance or Performing Arts College.”

If you would like to audition for a place on the Fast Track to Stage School Diploma in Dance or another course in Drama, Dance or Musical Theatre, click here and send your completed application form to the college.

Tours of the excellent studio facilities and the Lanfranc Theatre at the New Dover Road campus will be taking place at the College Open Day on Wednesday March 30th 2011 from 2pm-8pm; the performing arts teachers will be available to discuss your career and training plans.
