DMA Trust donate new mini bus to Canterbury College and Odyssey

Canterbury College students can now travel in style after the donation of a new mini bus. The shiny LDV Maxus was kindly donated by the DMA Trust to Canterbury College for students to share with the cancer charity Odyssey.

Odyssey is a charity which enhances the quality of life for people with cancer, through imaginative programmes of challenging and dramatic activities using the outdoors.

In term time the 15-seat minibus will help transport students to study excursions, Student’s Union events and sporting activities around the South East. In the holiday periods it will provide the necessary transport for Odyssey participants during their 5 day programs here in Kent.

The mini bus was handed over in a special ceremony at the College which was attended by Alison Clarke, Principal & Executive Director of Canterbury College, Terry Beer, Trustee of The DMA Trust, Stephen Gough of Odyssey as well as representatives from the College’s Students’ Union and student sports teams.

Jordan Gosbee, President of the Canterbury College Student Union said: “It’s really good to see that we have another minibus that we can use for trips, community projects and sports fixtures; it will mean we can save on hire costs and spend more on getting students active. It’s also nice to be able to support the Odyssey charity through sharing a vehicle.”

Alison Clarke, Principal & Executive Director at Canterbury College said: “We believe that excursions, sport and recreation are essential for all young people. This minibus will help our students’ journey to enjoy new places and experiences. We are grateful for the donation from DMA Trust and proud to be associated with them and Odyssey.

Stephen Gough, from Odyssey said: “We are indebted to The DMA Trust (formerly known as The Denne Charitable Trust) who have been supporting us since 1996. This latest gift, enabling us to share in the use of this mini bus with Canterbury College, will negate the need for us to hire such a vehicle for our programs thus saving significant course running costs.”

The DMA Trust (formerly known as The Denne Charitable Trust) was originally set up in 1993 to raise funds for the benefit of those people living with disability, together with those suffering from ill health. During the last 17 years in excess of £250,000 has been raised for Kent’s local needs.
