Celebrations at Canterbury College as learners receive their results
Canterbury College is celebrating its success today as over 400 learners receive their A Level results.
The College has increased its strong pass rate in their A Level results and have achieved 100% success in 18 A Level subjects. These included; Religious Studies, Spanish, Physical Education, Art & Design, Art History, Graphic Design, Photography, Film Studies, Philosophy, Physics, Media Studies, Geology, Biology, English Literature, Drama, Economics, Archaeology, Law and ICT.
The learners collected their results just after midday, many of whom will now be able to progress into employment or their first choice of University course.
As the results were released across the country two brave learners; Rhiannon Chandler and Kelly Jacques discovered their results live on the KMFM breakfast show (to listen click here). Kelly studied Biology, Psychology and Maths and achieved the three A grades she was hoping for to study Clinical Psychology at Oxford. Rhiannon studied English and Media Studies and achieved two B's, giving her the grades she needed to progress onto a teaching course at Canterbury Christ Church University, before achieving her life long ambition to teach in South Africa. Rhiannon said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Canterbury College. The teachers have been very helpful and supportive and I have really developed beyond my expectations in all my subjects. I will miss college and will always have great memories of my time here.”
Alison Clarke, Principal & Executive Director said: “I am delighted that so many of our learners have got the grades they deserved. We would like to congratulate everyone who has done so well today and also the many who have done equally well on our equivalent Vocational and Apprenticeship courses”. She added: “Over the last few years we have invested heavily in developing our teaching and quality and we support more learners through to Advanced level study than any other provider in the area. Our learners continue to make us proud year after year.”
In September, the AS and A level provision at Canterbury College is expanding to include six new programmes: Anthropology, Citizenship, Communication & Culture, Government & Politics, Electronics and World Development. There will also be a new type of programme called Pathway to A Levels, designed for learners who didn’t quite make the entry requirements for a full A level programme, to help them gain the skills and knowledge they need in just one year.
If you are a school-leaver thinking about your next step, or an adult thinking about returning to education Canterbury College Open Enrolment runs from 2-4 September - more details can be found here.
