Beauty Students Learn Lady Gaga Make-Up Tips

Beauty students at the Sheppey Campus of Canterbury College have been learning how to achieve the look of stars like Lady Gaga, Pink and Rihanna.

Trainers from Skin by Sterex, who specialise in theatrical and fantasy make-up and have created looks for models at high profile fashion shows, visited the Campus to pass on top tips and beauty industry secrets.

The group, who are studying for either a Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ Diploma, were taught a variety of make-up techniques during the session staged in the salon of the Campus on Bridge Road in Sheerness.

While they were shown how to choose the right foundation and create dramatic eye make-up, they were also able to have a go at airbrushing. This technique, which has become increasingly popular at festivals and in pop videos, creates temporary body art which can be accessorised with crystals.

Katrina McIntyre, Beauty Therapy Lecturer at Sheppey Campus, said: “This is the first time Skin by Sterex has visited the Campus to carry out a make-up workshop. As well as being able to watch demonstrations it was a really practical session and all the students got the chance to have a go at what they had learned. The results on the day were amazing and I’ve had really positive feedback from everyone who took part.”

Students who took part in the training received certificates from the Skin by Sterex trainers.
