Artwork brightens up hospital corridors
The Spice of Life restaurant at Kent and Canterbury Hospital was the unique venue for the private view of an exciting exhibition by Canterbury College art students.
Family, friends and guests joined the talented students who worked in partnership with the hospital to create a display lining the hospital corridors. The students, which were made up of 2nd year HND in Fine Art and HND in Graphic Design and Advertising students, gave visitors guided tours of the exhibition which snaked around the hospital.
Plain brick walls were transformed into contemporary displays by eye-catching pieces of artwork, which included painting, photography and graphics.
Mark Davison, Hospital Manager, was delighted with the
exhibition said, “There are about 2,500 members of staff at the hospital and
several thousand outpatients visit here a week so the exhibition has got an enormous
audience.
It’s been a pleasure working with the students and I’m sure
the display will be a great success, it definitely brightens up the hospital
and will help with patients’ experience.”
The exhibition finishes on 27 October but it is hoped that some of the pieces will remain on permanent display for more people to enjoy.
