Phase one

Project Launch and Sequence of Operations

College submits full planning application for phase 1 which is underpinned by 5 ‘supporting strategies’ for the site.

Detailed planning permission is granted and funding approved by the Government for phase 1 of the re-development; valued at £17.403m and providing 10,196m² of new floor space.

Early Years/Crèche

The Children’s Centre comprises of: baby rooms, toddler rooms, pre-school room, associated storage, toilets and changing areas, reception, staff accommodation, kitchen, laundry, external secure play area and pushchair store.

Land Based Centre

The Land Based Centre provides accommodation for the following: reptile, aquatic, bird and small mammal rooms, dog grooming area, classrooms, food prep and storage, staff accommodation and welfare facilities.

Motor Vehicle Workshop

The new Motor Vehicle Centre provides accommodation for: the motor vehicle workshop, MOT test centre, staff accommodation and welfare facilities. Adjacent to the building is an external secure compound for the storage of vehicles.

Post-16 Centre

The recently completed Post-16 Centre provides accommodation for the 6th Form Centre, including classrooms for English, Humanities, Maths and Modern Foreign Languages, together with the Science department including laboratories and associated prep areas.

Technology Centre

The new Technology Centre provides accommodation for the following: carpentry, fabrication/welding, trowel trades and plumbing workshops, classrooms, laboratories, staff rooms and welfare facilities.
